Asian Invasion at Miss Tess Head to Asian Invasion, the Wednesday night brunch at this live-wire bar. You’ll find a brilliant karaoke shower, sumo wrestlers, acrobats and characters flipping around the place, synchronised dance moves and cheesy tunes – think bubblegum pop and K-pop and you’ll get the idea. It’s barnstorming fun. Dhs288 (house drinks). Wed 8pm-11pm. Ongoing. Taj Dubai, Business Bay (050 650 4988).
Bongo’s Bingo It is a night of the stinkiest cheese, pure and simple. This utterly bizarre, truly bonkers night out combines conventional bingo with a full-on rave and throwback hits. Expect to hear from the likes of B*Witched or Boyzone whenever the number 33 comes up, or S Club 7 when, well, the number seven is drawn. There’s a whole bunch more madness to be had and some of the most random prizes imaginable – like Coco Pops and a Danny De Vito cut-out. From Dhs150. Dates vary. ON42, Media One Hotel, Dubai.platinumlist.com.
Crazy Bingo at Girders The aforementioned bingo night has kick started a brilliant new trend in town, and nowhere has capitalised on the bingomania quite like Girders in JBR. This sports bar and live music venue now has the Crazy Bingo Friday Brunch, with an anything-goes talent contest to go alongside the bingo marathon and five-hour brunch package. It’s also only Dhs210 per person, so it’s a whopping great bargain as well. Dhs210. Fri noon-5pm. JA Ocean View Hotel, JBR (04 814 5599).
Cobra Kai When this funky Asian bar and its conjoined sister restaurant Mr. Miyagi opened up last year, Media City had itself a brand-new hotspot on its hands. It’s now in full flow and you’ll frequently find this place verging on completely rammed come the end of the working week. It has re-runs of Karate Kid showing on the screens, pumping tunes, luminous neon Asian street signs everywhere, hops pong and a Street Fighter mural on the wall. If you’re looking for a lively post-work hangout to see out the end of the week (it’s where you’ll find all of the digital media luvvies), what more could you possibly want from a night out? Open daily noon-3am. Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City (04 420 7489).
Flashdance at Cavalli Club This luxury nightclub recently brought back one of its most popular nights. Flashdance is a weekly night of throwback pop classics, so get ready for some old-school remixes spearheaded by one of the top mash-up DJs around (DJ Rodge). Head along every Tuesday night for some retrotastic hits, glow sticks, huge disco balls, hundreds of Slinkies descending from the ceiling and more. Get three-and-a-half hours of unlimited drinks for Dhs300, and leave content after some cracking singalong action. Dhs300. Tue 8.30pm-3am. Ongoing. Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (050 991 0400).
Glitter Disco at Mahiki This import of the famous Polynesian party hotspot from Mayfair in London is one of the most fun-loving places you’ll find in town. To add to its unrestrained party atmosphere, ladies are almost guaranteed some sort of brilliant offer almost every night, but it’s the Glitter Disco we’re focusing on here. From 7pm until close every Friday, ladies can get a complimentary glittery beverage on arrival, accompanied by disco, retro and funky hits until 3am. You can also get an unlimited drinks package for five hours for Dhs200. Fri 7pm-3am. Ongoing. Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Umm Suqeim (055 216 0181).
Lucky Voice An absolute behemoth of a karaoke bar, Lucky Voice is unashamedly cheesy. Get your singing voice warmed up (or don’t, it’s funnier that way), and get into a pod with your mates, whack on some Disney classics (Just Can’t Wait To Be King is our favourite) and get hoarse. Your average night will have inflatables, mini fireworks and sparklers, dancing pandas (really) and a whole lot more. Don’t get us started on the epic, award-winning Friday afternoon party brunch, the Best Party Brunch of 2018. Mega. Brunch: Dhs295 (house drinks), Dhs350 (sparkling). Fri 1pm-4pm. Ongoing. Open Sat-Thu 5pm-3am; Fri 1pm-3am. Grand Millennium Dubai, Barsha Heights (800 58259).
Stereo Arcade Head on down to JBR’s DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dubai – Jumeirah Beach, and you’ll find a real one-off pub/club/arcade. It’s an ’80s themed bar with proper old-school tunes, and with free-to-play arcade machines dotted about, it screams “stay here and play!” from the moment you walk in. It’s heaving at the weekend, and that may be in part thanks to its cracking daily happy hour. Live music, an industrial vibe and all of the above make this a cracking retro hangou that will make you get your geek on. Open daily 6pm-3am. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dubai – Jumeirah Beach, JBR (052 618 2424).
